Marie Tueje's blog: short texts about all things.

As 2016 begins I feel ready to take the forthcoming year on and have a good idea of some of the challenges that lie ahead, both professionally and personally.  I've targeted a few key goals, and am building up a mental picture of where the various pieces of the puzzle will fit in.

One of the things I'd like to achieve in 2016 is to take on some volunteering work, and I've decided that I would like to do this with a charity that helps people who are either deaf people or hard of hearing. I want to draw the focus away from myself. Being self-employed means I'm constantly thinking about 'me', but often in the third person; whether  I'm thinking about my skills, my networks, my prospects, etc. Frankly, it can get a bit claustrophobic, not to mention cannibalistic.

Another goal is to sketch out ideas for two books, both non-fiction. This is quite ambitious perhaps, but I'm just focusing on the word sketch, rather than the word book. Using Scrivener, what I intend to do is get an outline down, an abstract, and a few chapter headings for each of the two ideas I've got.

*If you can suggest any UK charities working with people who are deaf or hard of hearing, or tools other than Scrivener for organising non-fiction writing I'd be glad to hear them. Leave a comment below or @marietueje.
