36 months and counting

Last month made it three years since I got my first professional gig in audio post-production, working as Assistant Sound Editor on this film. Cliched or not, I'll say it: it's been a rollercoaster. Complete with ups, downs, mad dashes across many countries, a lot of meetings, a lot of coffee, many chats, a lot of advice, and - truly - it's been a lot of fun. On brief reflection I don't think there is anything that I would change about the decisions I've made thus far, although I don't know whether that's a good thing or not!

What I've been meaning to do for a while is document the three years as best I can, as there are experiences that might be useful for others, particularly people who are changing career and think they can't make a change into the film and television craft sectors. I'll do it in bitesize bits, and although I'm not yet certain of the format, I'm thinking that an a-z of things I've learned as an audio post-production freelancer might be a good way to go about it.
