I'm spending two weeks in Cardiff. Originally it was to be longer (one month), but work and paying the bills intervened. I've been meaning to do this for a while, and it feels great to finally be here. Aside from catching up with a few acquaintances and meeting contacts with a few companies, one reason to make the trip is an effort to regain some head space. Having been in Cardiff for one week, I've made a list of some of the positive things that have happened this week. It's a random list.
The first thing is, of course, driving up here from London and making it one piece. First time using the SatNav, too, which I've been relying on getting around to meetings in Cardiff. It's also been great to move a little out my comfort zone. I had a lovely evening at CardiffMADE, and was thrilled to enjoy a beautifully chilled time at St Fagans National History Museum.
Simple pleasures, like meeting new people and being curious about them and their experiences. A fair amount of talk about Pokémon Go with Albert, and lots of thought-provoking film and television. Found out about Swansea Love Story, which I'll watch this week. Recommended Who Needs Sleep to Albert. A film I'd forgotten about, but which is relevant for anyone working exceptionally long hours and having to drive themselves to and from work. Re-watched the Sherlock special The Abominable Bride and finally got around to watching Amma Asante's Belle, which I thought a superior period drama, made even more so for it's subject matter, and Happy Valley Season 1.
