There is a marvellous interview with Serena Williams in the September edition of Vogue where she reflects on her incredible achievements and how they may have been portrayed in some quarters. She says, 'They say African Americans have to be twice as good, especially women. I'm perfectly okay with having to be twice as good.' It struck me that this is a lesson to us all regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, or age - anything. Aiming to be twice as good is aiming to be our best possible self.
(Congratulations to Serena and her fiance Alexis Ohanian on the birth of their first child, a girl).
