When we go into the sea, we go to fight, but we go to love and laugh as well. We go there because there is danger, there is adventure, there is life. But life isn’t solely made up of these things. If life is a tapestry, it is also a sea; a voyage of knowledge mixed with feeling, where we feel our way towards knowledge, and we know our way towards feeling. Then, out of knowledge and feeling spring other things; skill, craft, and all the emotions. We learn how to set ourselves against our emotions, and to deal with the emotions, sometimes letting them overwhelm us, but for the most part enjoying this battle. That this battle takes place on the sea, well, for some that is a marvel of life. There is sea all around us. The sea is the start of life. The seas break and they form land, and so this is where it all really began.

Were there only ever good days? Bad days? We don’t remember the in between days, that’s for sure. And yet, this is the biggest part of life. Why not?
